Through February 2026

WHISTLER’s real estate market had a total dollar volume of sales of approximately $39 Million in February. There were a total of 31 property transactions. Of those sales, 3 were chalets, 8 were townhouses and 4 were condominiums sales.

Bank of Canada Interest Rate Update: Policy Rate Remains at 2.25%

The Bank of Canada has held its target for the overnight rate at 2.25%, with the Bank Rate at 2.5% and the deposit rate at 2.20%. While inflation has eased to 1.8%, ongoing geopolitical tensions, particularly the conflict in the Middle East have increased volatility in global energy prices and raised uncertainty for the economic outlook.

The Bank stated that it continues to expect the Canadian economy to grow modestly as it adjusts to U.S. tariffs and trade policy uncertainty. However, recent data points to softer near-term growth, a weakening labour market, and continued pressure on exports. With risks to growth tilted to the downside and inflation expected to rise in the near term due to higher energy prices, the Bank remains cautious and will continue to monitor global developments and their impact on the Canadian economy.
